Final Blog post

The three most important things I have learnt over this semester are: 1. read the news, there is a lot of interesting things going on in the world 2. a hurricane can come and mess up your semester, don't let unexpected things get in the way 3. The honey for one of my favourite beers was supplied by my proffessor future advice for students: don't wait to do your assignments. Its ten times harder than just doing it week by week

second two final Blog Post

The topic I am most interested in hearing in is the presentation on job displacement by nicholas. This is very relevant to me and everyone graduating college as we are all facing the issues and decline in hiring rate due to ai and technology replacing people. As AI progresses more people will become redundant as AI can simulate their exact output. As a graduating student this is even more challenging as the lower level career positions are even more hard to get as their is less need for those people.

Blog Post: Reflections on Privacy discussions

Throughout the course of our discussions on privacy, I definitely learnt about how much data and information companies and the government have on me. This is rather overwhelming and also destroys our sense of freedom as we know that everything we do is being watched and saved. I would love a world where we don't have this concern but unfortunately this will always exist.

Citizen Four

After watching the Citizenfour documentary, I was shocked with the amount the government was surveilling us and also how they had such powerful capabilities of spying on large amounts of people. Also thinking of how they could use this data is terrifying.  It will be interesting to know what government can do nowadays and how they can spy and see our information.

Post Hurricane Blog

The Hurricane was not very eventful for me.  I remember going to bed thursday night assuming we would have an underwhelming amount of rain, however, the next day I looked out my window and there was a river going down the street below me. We lost power, water and cell service for the next couple days so I left the country and went home to England.  Technology affected me during all of this as I realised how dependent I am on my wifi and how many things that I used require it. Also it was hard to let my family know I was alright after the storm as I could barely contact them.  It was interesting when I was in England to hear how the storm was being presented over there and what things the news focused on.

Blog Post 4 (career fair)

Today I went to the career fair. Upon arrival I was given a name tag and some popcorn. I then proceeded to go downstairs to the arena where initially it was not that busy as it had just opened. However after talking to my first company, all technology companies where massively busy. The lines where insane but I still managed to talk to each company and received some cool merch. We shall see what the fruit of my labor are

Blog Post 3

After the discussion of Hive Tracks, I learnt some interesting and new things about bees, the company and how a start up operates. Here are 3 things I specifically found interesting: 1. The type of plants around bees effects the honey flavor 2. Hive Tracks gives the honey for the boonshine honey beer 3. it's important to be aware of Code ownership and how to handle who has the rights to it
